– Which is our next destination in the province of Tavush?
– Our next destination is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Armenia. The monastery is called Haghartsin. It is about 13,4 km to the north of Dilijan, in a picturesque place.
– What does the word Haghartsin mean in Armenian?
– According to a folklore myth, an eagle was soaring playfully over the dome of the main church on the day of its consecration. The Armenian word for “to play” is “խաղալ” or “հաղալ” in the local dialect. The Armenian for eagle is “արծիվ”. So Haghartsin is a compound word in Armenian meaning “խաղացող արծիվ – playing eagle”.
– Here is Haghartsin Monastery. It is really beautiful, isn’t it?
– Oh, what a beauty!
– How old is this monastery?
– Haghartsin Monastery was built in the 10-13th centuries. The monastery has 4 churches: St. Grigor, St.Astvatsatsin (St.Mary), Holy Katoghike Church, St.Stepanos Church. All these churches were built in different years. There are also chapels and cross-stones here.
– And what was this hall used for?
– That was the refectory. It was constructed on 12 columns that symbolize 12 apostles of Christ. It served as a public dining-room. There is a huge bronze pot with ornaments on it in the yard of the monastery.
– Oh, what an old tree it is!
– There is a belief that if you can go through the hollow of this tree your dream will come true.

-Մեր հաջորդ նպատակակետը Հայաստանի ամենագեղեցիկ վանքերից մեկն է: Վանքը կոչվում է Հաղարծին: Այն գտնվում է մոտ 14կմ Դիլիջանից դեպի հյուսիս մի գեղատեսիլ վայրում:

– Ըստ ժողովրդական բանահյուսության առասպելի մի արծիվ էր խաղալով թևածում վանքի գլխավոր եկեղեցու գմբեթի վրա վանքի օծման օրը: խաղալը տեղաբնկաների բարբառով ասում են հաղալ և Հաղարծին նշանակել է հաղացող արծիվ որը ժամանակաի ընթացքում դարձել է Հաղարծին:
-Երբ է կառուցվել վանքը
-Հաղարծինի վանքը կառուցվել է 10-13-րդ դարերում վանքը ունի չորս եկեղեցի՝ Սբ. Գրիգոր, Սբ. Աստվածածին, Սբ. Կաթողիկե և Սբ. Ստեփանոս: Բոլոր այս եկեղեցիները կառուցվել են տարբեր տարիներին: Այստես կան նաև խաչքարեր և մատուռներ:
-Իսկ ինչի համար է ծառայել այս դահլիճը
-Դա վանքի սեղանատունն էր այն կառուցված է 12 սյունների վրա և խորհրդանշում է Քրիստոսի 12 առաքյալներին: Զարդանախշերով մի մեծ բրոնզք կաթսա կա վանքի բակում:
-Այս ինչ հին ծառ է իր մեծ փչակով
-Մարդիկ հավատում են որ եթե կարողանաս անցնել այս ծառի փչակով ապա քո երազանքը կիրականանա
